Aspen Innovations

With each customer there is a certain level of assembly that makes both technical and economic sense to source from Aspen. These assemblies range from just a stator/rotor set, to a complete motor, to a complete motor with motor control electronics integrated, to a complete motor with motor control electronics as well as system electronics integrated

Below is a range of assemblies that we have supplied:

  • Rotor/Stator Sets
  • Complete motor with bearings and feedback
  • Motor with the motor control electronics integrated
  • Motor with motor control electronics as well as system control electronics integrated
  • Motor and associated electronics integrated into the end customers housing
  • Motor with integrated controls as well as a forward curve or backward curve wheel
  • Integrated motor and centrifugal pump

Brushless DC Motors Aspen designs, prototypes and manufactures Brushless motors ranging from .7" to 17" in diameter (fractional to 35 HP, inner or outer rotor), with a variety of magnet materials (bonded Neodymium Iron Boron, sintered Neodymium Iron Boron, Samarium Cobalt and Ferrite). Our designs include many different types of feedback on the motors such as hall effects (SMT or thru hole), resolvers, encoders, as well as sensorless (no feedback component).

We have designs that operate on voltages down to 6 VDC and up to 450 VDC with many increments (including AC) in between.

Brushless DC Controllers Aspen designs, prototypes and manufactures control hardware (power and logic) and software for brushless motors. These range from current levels of 1 Arms up to 400 Arms capability as well as from 6 VDC up to 450 VDC. Many of our designs can accept 110 VAC or 220 VAC input voltages for use in line operated applications and we can incorporate power factor correction front ends to allow for universal input power when needed.

At the heart of our controllers we typically utilize Digital Signal Processors (DPSs), but we also have designs which incorporate FPGA's, PAL's and Microprocessors. The selection is determined by the end customer's requirements.

Many of our designs incorporate a front end communication protocol such as I2C, RS232, RS485, Zigbee (wireless communications), or CANBUS depending on the end application needs.

Motorized Impellers Aspen has a number of tooled components that can be either purchased as designed or tailored to meet a wide range of CFM and pressures. These units are designed for voltages ranging from 12 VDC up to 48 VDC and often contain integral brushless control electronics.

Specifications for our Motorized Impeller Line can be found here. This range of MI's are readily available.

In addition to the designs shown Aspen can also provide a "from scratch" design where it makes business sense to both the customer and Aspen as needed.
